It is estimated that roughly 15 - 20% of the global population is neurodiverse. Yet, the world is primarily set up for those who are considered typical thinkers. Thankfully, K - 12 schools are bound to make reasonable accommodations for students with learning differences, but there's still more work to do to create safe, welcoming spaces in which these students can thrive. In the meantime, students and their parents need strategies for advocacy as well as navigating the academic environment to get their needs met.
